The book is about a boy named doubting Thomas who wakes up in a place called the Glade which he has never seen before, and is surrounded by new places, people, and events that he is completely unfamiliar with. Thomas doesnt call in much about before he woke up there, and at commencement ceremony he feels alone and uncomfortable with his new surroundings. This approach of being introduced into something you atomic number 18 completely unfamiliar with is a common feeling in the life of a teenager, and with current day technology it is becoming much and more difficult to adapt to new surroundings and become introduced to new places and people.
